Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Please help!! I was using my laptop earlier this evening building a spreadsheet then saved, closed the computer and went to dinner. Came back and now it won't turn on at All! The battery is fully charged and works and there is nothing wrong with the cord. My husband has the exact same laptop except mine is the touch screen version so we tried both sets in both computers. The only light that comes on is the the charging light when I plug the cord in. I took the battery and cord out and held the power button, trying to reset everything after looking several things up. I have really important stuff on there and really can not risk doing a complete reset if I don't have to. There are no other lights or sounds that are coming from it at all other than The charging light. The laptop is just about 2 years old now but it is in pretty much perfect condition. I do not know what else to do, please help!!!

Hi

Some of this you have no doubt already tried.

Turn the computer over, look for a battery compartment door to determine if your computer has a removable battery or not. If you see a battery compartment door, your computer has a removable battery. Remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, reinsert the battery into the compartment, and then continue to the next step.

If you do not see battery compartment door, your computer does not have a removable battery. For most notebooks with non-removable batteries, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to complete the reset, and then continue to the next step.

ENVY 17 2D/3D and ENVY 15-3000 series: Press and hold the power and the Beats buttons for 8 to 10 seconds, Folio 13: Press and hold the power button for 8 to 10 seconds.

ENVY 14 SPECTRE: Press and hold the power and the Mute buttons (on the right side of the palm rest) for 8 to 10 seconds.

EliteBook Folio 1040 G1/G2: Press and hold the power and the Mute buttons at the same time for 15 seconds or until the computer restarts.

BIOS recovery for most Laptops, as a last resort...

WinKey + B + PWR for 1 second.
WinKey + V + PWR for 1 second.

None the less, I have tried the no power source, holding the power switch, and then trying the power source several times. None of those worked last night! I have no clue the computers you are speaking of our the buttons for that matter. It sounds to me like those are gaming computers and mine is not. I found another forum and read pin it as well. Of course who in this world doesn't like answers now?? Lol anywho,

After giving up last night and then trying again this morning, I removed all power and held the power button for 30 seconds. Then only plugged in the cord, then listened for a squealing, power sound or nothing. It actually powered on!! I am so relieved! I am not sure what exactly was going on but that was not cool at all. Thank you for your quick reply and help in the process.
