Before moving to Linux... I'd like to know which major Linux operating systems (Debian/Susex/Gentoo/Arch/Red Hat) and therefore their forks (Ubuntu/Manjaro/Fedora/Mint/Zorin/PopOs/etc,etc,etc) are compatible with my laptop which I mainly use for school (Engineering) and home office. I'm not sure if HP releases touchscreen and touchpad drivers for Linux Oses.

your laptop cam run most major Linux distributions well for engineering schoolwork and home office tasks. Choose a Linux distro that matches your specific needs is often the smartest approach, as each has unique strengths and trade-offs.

Thank you for your answer. I've been looking at distros and I think I will be installing Debian or one of its more "modern" forks (Ubuntu, Mint, Mint DE) because of stability, personalization and big package (apt) support.

Do as you wish. You can also change to another when you want
