I have an HP Stream 14-cb120nr laptop with Windows 10 Home (64-bit).
System Memory: 4 GB (438.86 MB)
Hard Drive: 1 Hard Drive
Installed RAM: 4.00 GB (3.83 GB Usable)
On This PC in the Files explorer it says 2.81 GB free of 27.8 GB.
I tried to install new Windows updates but every time I try to it fails due to low disk space. I need a certain amount of GB to download updates and I need to free up 5 GB or more but I've tried nearly everything I could find and at most it frees up 1 GB. I don't download almost anything on my C Drive since I use an external device (SD card). I've tried using disk cleanup a lot, deleting temp files, prefetch files, deleting web browser history, deleting unwanted apps. I've tried all of it and it still has low disk space so every so often I get the low disk space warning and can't download updates warning.

Here are some things you can do to recover some of the disk space:

Also, the community Win10 Forums has the following suggestions:

In addition, I have found the utility Cleanmgr+ to have LOTS of options for removing Windows junk, including log files. I use it practically every day. You can get it from here: https://www.getclone.app/download/category/11-cleanmgr
Also, there is a freeware app known as Wise Disk Cleaner. I use it every day to get rid of junk files: https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-disk-cleaner.html
