I have a Pavilion Dv6 entertainment laptop. It came pre-installed with a 32bit windows 7 OS and has been upgraded to windows 10 32bit, and I am trying to work out if it is capable of migrating to a 64bit with the original hardware. I have upgraded the hard drive previously but not sure if the rest of the hardware will be compatible with the 64bit version of windows 10?
has anyone tried this already?

Hello @SimmyJ
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome !
Your PC is an old model and does not officially work with Windows 10 - HP hasn't released drivers for your model for Windows 10 (neither 32-bit, nor 64). Therefore, nobody can state to you officially if it will work or not, only based on usage or experience.
If your Windows 10 works fine now with generic drivers and drivers which Windows 10 delivered to you, keep it running this way and don't experiment. If it ain't broke, don't attempt to "fix it".
Cheers
