on systemHi Mr. Paul'

happy new year!

I want to thank you very much for all your assistance last year. I am very grateful. However, as the world is changing a lot of issues or challenges will be coming up, calling for our attention. So, we will continue to seek your support and assistance HP system related issues from time to time.

My system has lately been shutting down on its own at intervals during use. I cannot figure out what the cause might be, so decided to report to you for possible solution.

Systen information:

Compaq Presario V3925TU

OS: Windows 10

System Type: 32-bit Operating System, x64-based prosessor

Prosessor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5850 @2.16GHz 2.17GHz

Thanks,

Expecting your kind response.

Happy New Year, Mr. Vincent!

That is a tough issue to diagnose...random shutdowns.

Does your notebook have a memory test option in the BIOS?

You may want to run a memory test and see if one of the modules is faulty.

Sometimes when a PC all of a sudden shuts down, many times it is due to a faulty memory module.

Hi Mr. Paul

Sorry for late response, I got your reply. So if I check and my system has memory test option in the BIOS, what should I do, and if not what is another solution?

Thanks.

Hi:

Run the memory test and see what it reports.

If it indicates the memory is OK, and you have two memory modules, I suggest removing one of them and test the notebook with each one.

One may be intermittently bad and causing the system to shut down.

If the system shuts down with one of the two you test, then you know which one is bad and you can replace it.

If the system shuts down with both of the two you test, then you know it isn't a memory issue, and unfortunately, I wouldn't know what you need to do from there.

I have just noticed in connection to this occassional shutdown that the front left side of my system gets very hot while the system is in use. It's a new development tha of serious concern to me. What could be the reason?

As a result, while the system was in use I decided to raise it with a support to allow enough air pass under, and I just realized that the system did not shutdown on me while in use. Explanation?

All this put together, I need an expert analysis to be able to resolve this problem.

Best regards,

Mr. Vincent

Hi:

Probably the processor and graphics run hot on that model notebook, so it was a good idea to keep it well ventilated.

I am not a PC repair tech by trade or training, and my expertise is limited to finding drivers for hardware.
