My keyboard symbols are mismatched, which I have been working but cannot seem to find the symbol "|" on the keyboard. It should be under backspace when you press shift but it has been replaced with "~" . How do I find this symbol?

@Elles21, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your missing "I" symbols!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand that your keyboard symbols are mismatched, and you are unable to locate the "|" (pipe) symbol. Let's troubleshoot this issue together.
Check Keyboard Layout Settings:
- Press Windows + Spacebar to toggle between installed keyboard layouts.
- Alternatively, go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region > Preferred Languages and ensure the correct keyboard layout (e.g., US QWERTY) is selected.
Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards, right-click your keyboard driver, and choose Uninstall device.
- Restart your PC to reinstall the default keyboard driver automatically.
If the issue persists, please provide your HP laptop model and current keyboard language settings, and we'll be happy to assist you further!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
