Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I purchased this Pavilon just two weeks or so ago.  HP provided an update to its BIOS; I decided to allow the patch, only to find that my browser has slown down 3 to 5 seconds once more than one window is opened.  Even with a single window I have a 2 or 3 second delay before a click is acknowledged.  I purchased a weaker product this time, but cannot fathom why HP would provide a patch not fitting such to the character of their own product.

 

I can live with this, as all I do is standard browsing and video viewing, but I would never have purchased this product if I knew such a simple (recomended) patch would hobble its speed.

It is actually a combination of Windows Updates plus the BIOS. All security related patches after the Spectre/Meltdown fiasco. Read through this Advisory at Microsoft. Number 18 in the FAQ:

KB4078130 makes the registry changes needed. Restart after installing:

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4078130
