Microsoft Windows 11

my mouse is gone and my touchpad is not responding. Thank goodness this is a touch screen. How do I get my mouse back? I have tried following online instructions but looks like the tabs I need to fix it are not there either, which is frustrating. I have tried shutting down and restarting my computer too.

Those devices stop working when the wrong driver is installed.  This usually easily happen during a windows update.

Bring up the device manager, look for warning icons.  Where the warning icon is shown, select driver and roll back the driver to the previous one.  If "rollback is grayed or the rollback does not work then the original HP driver needs to be installed.

The mouse and touchpad driver should be in the HID

let me know what happens

my print screen button isnt working now either lol but i see in the device manager that there are 2 "12C HID Device" items and one of them has a warning notation. When I right click the warning one, should I update, disable, or uninstall?

See if you can roll back the driver.  If not, then update.  If update fails then  uninstall, select "action" and scan for new devices.

I uninstalled the "warning" one and am updating the one that did not have a warning right now.

Windows usually keeps a copy of the "last" driver and if the new driver has a problem then one can return to the old drive

Note that "Roll Back Driver" is grayed out.  There is no older driver to return back to.
