My HP support assistant tells me I have 8 updates (suppose to do them automatically but obviously it isn't). When I go in to install them it has a checklist of things to do to install the update. It is getting stuck at Create A Restore Point. It never creates one to choose, it just keeps loading. Also my windows button on the screen (how you get to all your apps not on the desktop) will not do anything when I click it. I have ran anti-virus and it comes back clean, my firewall is up to date and working. Why is this happening? Any ideas what to do?

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you run the System File Checker

  • In the search box on the taskbar, enter Command Prompt. Right click Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the search results and select Run as administrator.
  • Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the space before each "/"). (Note: This step may take a few minutes to start and up to 30 minutes to run and complete.)
  • Enter sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").

You can refer to this Link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker. The same applies for Windows 8

Restart the Notebook and check.

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a great day 😊
