Hi @Banjar03,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand you're experiencing excessive fan noise from your HP laptop. This can be caused by system load, blocked ventilation, outdated BIOS, or even dust buildup. Here's how to address it:

Step-by-Step Guide to Reduce Loud Fan Noise

1. Restart and Check Environment

  • Ensure the laptop is on a hard, flat surface (not fabric or a soft bed).
  • Avoid using it in hot or dusty environments.

2. Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause the cooling fan to behave incorrectly.

  • Go to: Official HP® Support
  • Enter your laptop’s model number (e.g., "HP Pavilion 15-egxxxx")
  • Download the latest BIOS and System Management/Chipset drivers
  • Install and restart your computer

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

To check if the fan hardware is working correctly:

  1. Press Esc repeatedly at startup → then press F2 for HP Diagnostics
  2. Run System TestsFan test

5. Check Task Manager for High CPU Usage

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
  • Go to the Processes tab
  • If a program is using a high CPU for long periods, it will cause the fan to run louder.
    • Right-click the process and End task if appropriate
    • Check for background apps like antivirus scans, browser tabs, or updates

6. Clean the Air Vents

Dust buildup restricts airflow and causes overheating, → noisy fans.

  • Use compressed air to gently blow out vents.
  • Avoid using vacuum cleaners as they may generate static electricity.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
