HP Stream Notebook PC 11
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I got this laptop has a Christmas gift in 2014, I have not had any trouble until the past week. It keeps saying that my disc memory too low to download anything whether it is a document or a new tab on the internet. I keep deleting documents, downloads, search/browser history and any other things I do not need but it keeps saying I do not have disc space. It acts to strange and the screen goes blank when I do things on it, and it could happen at any moment. I am college commuter student so I really need this laptop especially at school for taking notes. We have a desktop computer at home so I can use that one when I can't work on my laptop. Is there anything I do to help it or should I go to a local computer store. I would rather not buy another laptop this soon unless I have to. Thanks, Jennifer Hildreth

The HP Stream 11 has a very tiny (32Gb) storage area, which can be taken up almost completely with the operating system and update files. The first step would be to run Disk Cleanup.  Look for an option "Clean up system files".  Click this and it will then search for system files that can be deleted.  Select Previous Windows installation(s) and Temporary Windows Installation files, then click OK.

I would suggest adding a microSD card in the slot on the side.  Some models to consider would be a $25 128Gb microSD such as https://www.newegg.com/sandisk-128gb-microsdxc/p/N82E16820175007 or a 64Gb version for $12 like this: https://www.newegg.com/sandisk-64gb-microsdxc/p/N82E16820173360.

Once you have installed the microSD card you will need to format it and assign a drive letter (probably D:).  Next open File Explorer, right click on Documents, Properties, Location, set the location to the new drive (such as D:\Documents), Move.  This will move the Documents folder.  You may want to repeat this process for the Downloads and Temp folders.
