My HP Notebook is stuck in a blue screen with the error code: 0x0000001.   The Stop Code says: BAD SYSTEM CONFIG.  When it tries to restart, it says it couldn't start properly.  Attempts at automatic recovery have been unsuccessful.  I've tried startup repair, uninstalling updates, system restore, system reset..., just about everything I can think of... and none of it worked... Help!!!

It sounds like you've already tried many troubleshooting steps, but let's see if we can narrow down the issue and find a solution. Here are some additional steps you can try.

 

  • Safe Mode: Try booting into Safe Mode. If you can successfully boot into Safe Mode, it suggests that a third-party driver or software may be causing the issue. You can then try uninstalling recently installed drivers or software.
  • Check Disk: Use the Command Prompt in the Recovery Environment to run a disk check. Type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter. This will check and repair any disk errors.
  • BIOS Settings: Reset BIOS settings to default. Sometimes incorrect BIOS settings can cause such issues.
  • Hardware Check: Run a hardware diagnostic test to check if any hardware component is failing. HP usually provides a built-in hardware diagnostic tool accessible from the BIOS menu.
  • Windows System File Checker (SFC): In the Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This command will scan and repair corrupted system files.
  • Check for RAM Issues: Faulty RAM can cause such issues. If you have multiple RAM sticks, try removing one at a time and see if the issue persists.
  • Check for Hard Drive Issues: Use a diagnostic tool like CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of your hard drive.
  • Reinstall Windows: If none of the above steps work, you may need to reinstall Windows. You can use a Windows installation media to perform a clean install.

 

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there is a more serious underlying hardware problem, such as a failing hard drive or motherboard.

None of this worked and and when I tried to reinstall windows, it said I needed 52 GB of hard drive space and thats not available in any of the partitions it provides me with as options when it asks me where I want to install windows.

This is really frustrating.  I paid $400 for that laptop and haven't even had it for 2 years.  I used it for SCHOOL.  I didn't go to funky websites where I could have gotten viruses, or download questionable stuff.  And I always tried to take care of it! But

almost as soon as my factory warranty expires and I decline to purchase an extended warranty, my laptop crashes?  Talk about a shady coincidence!
