@Tena77,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

It sounds like your battery started charging, then suddenly stopped -here are a few quick things to try:

Quick Fixes:

  1. Check all connections – make sure the charger is firmly plugged into both the wall and the laptop.

  2. Try a different outlet – sometimes it’s just the power source.

  3. Do a hard reset:

    • Shut down your laptop.

    • Unplug the charger. (Remove the battery if it's removable.)

    • Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.

    • Plug it back in and power on.

Still not charging?

  • Open Device Manager, go to Batteries, and uninstall “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery”. Restart your laptop -it will reinstall automatically.

  • If that doesn’t help, try HP’s built-in hardware diagnostics (press Esc when turning on, then F2 > Battery Test).

  • Also try a different HP charger if you have one handy.

  • In my experience, the most likely issue is a defective battery.

Please let me know your laptop model and whether the battery is removable -happy to walk you through more steps if needed.

Kind Regards,
