Hi @Dchristian22

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for reaching out. We understand how concerning it can be when your desktop suddenly crashes and then displays a message about installing an operating system or a hard disk issue.

To help us understand the situation better, could you please share:

  • The exact HP desktop model or product number
  • The complete error message shown on the screen
  • Whether the issue started immediately after using FL Studio or after a restart
  • If the computer powers on normally and reaches the HP logo
  • Whether you hear any unusual sounds from the hard drive or desktop

In the meantime, a few basic checks may help:

  • Disconnect any external USB drives, memory cards, or external hard disks and restart the PC.
  • Turn the computer off completely, wait about 30 seconds, and power it back on.
  • Observe whether the HP logo appears before the error message.
  • If available, press Esc repeatedly during startup and let us know if the Startup Menu appears.

The message "Please install an operating system" typically means the computer is unable to detect the drive that contains Windows, or the operating system files are no longer accessible. This could be related to the storage drive, startup settings, or Windows files.

Please share the requested details and, if possible, a photo of the error screen so we can assist further.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
