Hi @Lavida1991,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop is stuck in a loop on "Automatic Repair," this usually indicates a problem with the operating system or hardware. Here are steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Perform a Hard Restart
- Press and hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds to turn off the laptop completely.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
- Turn the laptop back on and check if the issue persists.
Boot into Safe Mode
- Turn off the laptop and then turn it back on.
- As soon as it starts booting, repeatedly press the F8 or Shift + F8 key to bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Select Safe Mode and press Enter.
- If you can boot into Safe Mode:
- Run Disk Cleanup to remove unnecessary files.
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart your laptop.
Use Advanced Startup Options
- When "Automatic Repair" starts, click Advanced Options.
- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options.
- Startup Repair: Let Windows attempt to fix itself.
- System Restore: Restore your system to an earlier point if a restore point is available.
- Command Prompt: Run these commands:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
Disable Automatic Repair Loop
- Boot into Command Prompt using the steps above.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
bcdedit /set {default} recoveryenabled no
- Restart your laptop.
Perform a System Reset
- Go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Choose whether to keep your files or remove everything.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the system.

Reinstall Windows
If none of the above works, you may need to reinstall Windows:
- Create a Windows installation USB drive using another computer and the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.
- Boot your laptop from the USB drive (press F9 or Esc during boot to access the Boot Menu).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.
Check for Hardware Issues
- Run HP Diagnostics:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly during boot, then select F2 for System Diagnostics.
- Run a hardware scan to check for issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
