Hi @Lavida1991,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop is stuck in a loop on "Automatic Repair," this usually indicates a problem with the operating system or hardware. Here are steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Perform a Hard Restart

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds to turn off the laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  3. Turn the laptop back on and check if the issue persists.

Boot into Safe Mode

  1. Turn off the laptop and then turn it back on.
  2. As soon as it starts booting, repeatedly press the F8 or Shift + F8 key to bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  3. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.
  4. If you can boot into Safe Mode:
    • Run Disk Cleanup to remove unnecessary files.
    • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:

sfc /scannow

  • Restart your laptop.

Use Advanced Startup Options

  1. When "Automatic Repair" starts, click Advanced Options.
  2. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options.
    • Startup Repair: Let Windows attempt to fix itself.
    • System Restore: Restore your system to an earlier point if a restore point is available.
    • Command Prompt: Run these commands:

bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd

Disable Automatic Repair Loop

  1. Boot into Command Prompt using the steps above.
  2. Type the following command and press Enter:

bcdedit /set {default} recoveryenabled no

  1. Restart your laptop.

Perform a System Reset

  1. Go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  2. Choose whether to keep your files or remove everything.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the system.

Reinstall Windows

If none of the above works, you may need to reinstall Windows:

  1. Create a Windows installation USB drive using another computer and the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.
  2. Boot your laptop from the USB drive (press F9 or Esc during boot to access the Boot Menu).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.

Check for Hardware Issues

  • Run HP Diagnostics:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Press Esc repeatedly during boot, then select F2 for System Diagnostics.
    3. Run a hardware scan to check for issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
