Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Community! 🎉
I’m here to help you troubleshoot your issue and get things back on track. Just follow these steps below, and we’ll have you running smoothly in no time:
1. Using Windows Recovery (Advanced Startup)
Force Restart into Recovery Mode:
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Turn it back on and immediately start pressing F11 (on HP laptops) repeatedly until the recovery menu appears.
- If F11 doesn’t work, try Esc > F11, or Shift + Restart (if you can access the login screen).
Choose Recovery Options:
- Select Troubleshoot.
- Click Reset this PC.
- Choose Remove everything (for a full factory reset).
Choose Reinstallation Type:
- Select Local reinstall (if the recovery partition is intact).
- If local reinstall doesn’t work, choose Cloud download (requires an internet connection).
Confirm and Reset:
- Follow on-screen instructions to proceed.
- Your laptop will reset and restart automatically.

2. Using a Bootable USB (If Recovery Mode Fails)
If F11 doesn’t work or the recovery partition is corrupted, you’ll need to create a bootable USB to reinstall Windows.
Create a Windows Installation USB
- Use another working PC and download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s website.
- Insert a 16GB or larger USB drive.
- Run the tool and choose Create installation media.
- Select your Windows version and language.
- Choose USB flash drive and let it create the bootable media.
Boot from USB
- Insert the USB into your laptop.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Power it on and press Esc, then F9 to open the boot menu.
- Select USB Drive and press Enter.
- Click Install Now and choose Custom Install.
- Delete all partitions (if you want a full factory reset).
- Proceed with the installation.
Final Steps After Reset
- Install drivers from HP Support Assistant.
- Update Windows via Windows Update.
- Install necessary applications.
