After 2 months of purchasing my laptop . When i turn it on (without external power supply) , the fans run at top speed and it shutdown . also the power button won't work after that for some time .
I have tried updating my BIOS and system is the upto date.
I just want to know whether it is Any Hardware issue or any software issue.
Or should I replace the battery ?

@Arush15, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it must be to experience sudden shutdowns, especially on a relatively new HP Victus laptop. Based on your description, fans spinning at full speed, shutdown without external power, and unresponsive power button, this could be related to hardware (battery or motherboard) or firmware/power management issues.
Let’s go through a few steps to isolate and potentially resolve the issue:
Test with Direct Power
- Plug in the charger and power on the laptop.
- If the system works fine only when plugged in, the issue likely points to a battery or power delivery fault.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the charger.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the charger and try powering on again.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- While the laptop is off, press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run the Battery Test and System Test.
Check Battery Health in HP Support Assistant
- Open HP Support Assistant (or download it from HP Support Assistant | HP® Support).
- Go to Battery > Battery Check.
- If the battery is failing, it will show a “Replace” status.
Update BIOS and Drivers (Already Done)
- Since you've already updated BIOS and system drivers, that’s great. Just ensure you’ve also updated:
- Chipset drivers
- Power management drivers
- HP System Event Utility
You can find all drivers for your model here: Official HP® Support
Reset Windows Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Restore default settings.
- Also try creating a new power plan and test.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
