Need Windows 7 iso

At time, I had created  recovery USB, but I am kicking myself now since I overworte that to create som other USB test boot programs.

I trid to get the recovery software for my laptop, but it says order no longer available.

So, I tried to get the ISO at Microsoft's site (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7) but  when I enter my Windows product key, it says:

Error

The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options.

So how do I get this ISO from HP?  I do not see any other way to recover this laptop.

Thanks. I did see that information, but I am working on an old HP PC with Windows XP and that program did not work. Since you say it works, I have to try to find a newer PC (may be difficult for me), unless someone could download it for me,  - The bottom of my laptop has a Microsoft product sticker that says "Windows 7 Home Premium" but I am not sure that is an actual version of Win 7.  It is the 64 bit version. If someone will be kind enough to download it, my email is bill1a9z@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit is the version that shipped on your laptop. Can you download directly from this link? It would be hard to email a file that large.

You will need a cd/dvd burning program on the XP computer that can handle ISO files to convert it to a bootable dvd or usb flash drive.

Cheryl,  Thanks you very much for the file. I was able to download it just fine.  I need it as a USB and I prefer For tools, the Linux stuff - much more powerful and robust than other types of software.

Well, I tried to use the ISO, First the USB is extremely problematic, so I created a DVD boot disc instead. It loaded fin at boot time, but if I clik on the link that says "repair your computer" it says "this version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows that you are trying to rpair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows."

The stamp on the botom of my laptop has a sticker showing the version of Microsoft Windows that is installed - it says, exactly:

Windows 7 Home Prem OA

It is 64 bit but the sticker dfoes not say that. 

Would you be so kind as to get me other versions of 64 bit Windows Home xxxx yyyy ISO images so that I can try them?

Hi again CherylG, Thanks for the reply and pointers where to go next, but you indeed gave me the right ISO version, The error lies elsewhere - see below.  First I tried some of the tools  Windows ISO Disc Image Utilities -, I tried making the “universal” ISO via the ei.cfg Removal Utility, burned the converted Win 7 ISO to a second DVD, which again failed the same way (same error, next paragraph belw). I did not get around to playing with he other tools at the download site for the ei tool  like ISO Image Edition Switcher or cversion.ini Removal Utility, but these look like great tools when you need to use them (http://code.kliu.org/misc/winisoutils/).

Instead of chasing that path, I decided to go back to the actual error - "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair....".

To get my ISO DVD working, I did not have to go so extreme as some of them did - instead, All that I had to do was change (in the BIOS) the legacy boot order and bring the USB DVD/CD drive that I am using, to the top of the boot order, no disabling of drives was needed.

So thanks again to Cheryl for helping me with advice and for downloading the huge  ISO file, and making it deliverable for me on my win xp PC since I was not able, due to XP, get the download myself!

I was finally able to use the DVD created from the ISO to initiate the Windows 7 recovery functions, since I overwrote my HP recovery USB and never got around to write it to my HP USB again. I had overwritten the HP files while I was  messing around with some other ISO images (pendrive linux distros, and other rescue tools like AVG, Kapersky, Hiren’s boot CD, etc.)

I used the restore point from the end of this past Jan. from a critical MS update, and now my PC is 100% back in working order!!!!!
