Hello,
I have an HP Envy x360 15-df0106ng convertible laptop, running Windows 10 version 22h2, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U - 8th generation 1.8GHz.
I downloaded the relevant driver from the HP website HERE, specifying my PC's specifications.
It offered me four drivers, only one of which would display a list of three useful drivers.
According to the small checked box at the bottom left of the photo (see attached photo 1),
there are three possible selections:
- Realtek PCIE CardReader ...
However, after testing the three drivers, I received a message (see photo 2,3,4), in which I was asked to ask my HP supplier for an updated driver.
So I'm contacting you because I need a specific, updated driver to reinstall Windows 10 on my HP laptop, which is no longer under warranty.
So any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Note:
I'm telling you about a previous intervention:
Following a graphics card failure a month ago, I swapped the original motherboard for another one. The old motherboard was referenced: DAOX38MBAFO-Rev.F, FOR a new motherboard: DAOX38MBAGO-Rev.G, which was recognized and allowed my computer to restart properly, and it worked properly...
I'm attaching a 500GB Internal SSD TEST: TEST SUCCESSFUL (PHOTO 5)
AND a TEST of the internal RAM: TEST SUCCESSFUL (PHOTO 6)

Hi @Fran7777
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for laying out the situation so clearly—and kudos for navigating the motherboard swap and hardware tests so thoroughly. Based on your HP Spectre x360 15-df0106ng and the Realtek PCIE CardReader driver issue, here’s a structured approach to help you get the correct updated driver for reinstalling Windows 10:
1. Download the Correct Realtek PCIe CardReader Driver
- Go to the HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0106ng Driver Page
- Locate the driver under Driver-Storage
- Download the latest version of the Realtek PCIe Card Reader driver (e.g., 10.0.18362.31255 Rev.A)
If the driver fails to install or throws an error, you can try obtaining a newer WHQL-certified driver via trusted sources such as Realtek or HP support forums.
2. Manually Install the Driver Using Device Manager
- Extract the driver package if it's zipped
- Open Device Manager
- Locate the problematic device, usually listed under “Memory Technology Devices” or “Other devices”
- Right-click it and choose Update Driver
- Select “Browse my computer for drivers”
- Navigate to the extracted driver folder and select the .inf file manually
3. Try Alternate or Previous Driver Versions
If the newest version doesn’t work, it’s worth testing a previous release:
- In Device Manager, right-click the Realtek device > Properties > Driver tab
- Choose Roll Back Driver if that option is available
- Alternatively, reinstall an earlier version from HP’s archive or Realtek’s site
4. Ensure BIOS Compatibility with the New Motherboard
After a motherboard swap, confirm BIOS is compatible with the replacement board revision:
- Visit the same HP driver page and download the latest BIOS update
- Install it using the built-in installer; make sure AC power is connected during the process
- Restart your system and check for device recognition improvements
5. Confirm Installation Was Successful
- After completing installation, open Device Manager
- Look for the Realtek Card Reader under its correct category without warning icons
- Test functionality if you have an SD card available.
Let me know what you observe after trying these steps. If needed, I can help locate a specific .inf file or walk you through a clean driver install. You’ve already done the heavy lifting—let’s get this last piece sorted.
