Hi, @TonyH2022

See if you can clean the disk during the W10 installation process.

See this video...start watching it about the 5 minute mark.

Use of Diskpart to Format Clean or Wipe Clean All Partitions on a Drive Before Windows Installation ...

In the BIOS there is a setting called Secure Erase which is supposed to erase all data off the drive but for some reason it does not work at all.

In command promt, I go to diskpart and select my drive to clean. It successfully cleans the drive. I go back to install Windows and the same old partitions are still there.

I go back to command promt and this time I choose clean all and then it fails and gives me this error code 0x80042417.

When I try to manually delete the partitions then I get the error message "the partition is an efi system" which that video that you sent to me was talking about.

I wonder what that virus did to your notebook's drive?

Using the diskpart command should have cleaned it and you should have been left with a drive with unallocated space.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.
