Hello,

I have a Hp 15-FC0017na that runs windows 11 25H2 find that windows update has started to update the bios, is there a way to stop this from happening, and also how to I get the latest bios version from HP website installed on to my laptop.

I understand that you'd like to stop the BIOS update being offered through Windows Update and instead install the latest BIOS manually from the HP website for your HP 15-fc0017na. I'll be glad to clarify how this works.

 

HP does not recommend removing or uninstalling the BIOS from your notebook. The BIOS is essential firmware that allows the computer to start and communicate with the hardware.

 

HP BIOS updates may be delivered through Windows Update as firmware updates to help improve system stability, compatibility, and security. These updates are digitally validated for supported HP systems.

 

If a BIOS update has already been downloaded or scheduled through Windows Update, there isn't a supported method to remove only that individual BIOS update. While Windows Update can be paused or managed in certain situations, HP generally recommends installing BIOS updates that are offered for your specific notebook model.

 

If you prefer to manually install the latest BIOS, you can download the current BIOS package for your HP 15-fc0017na from the official HP Support website. Before installing it, compare the BIOS version available on the HP support page with the version currently installed on your notebook to determine whether an update is actually required.

 

Once the BIOS update has been successfully installed, whether through Windows Update or the HP Support website, your notebook should be running the latest supported BIOS version for your model.
