Hi,
My laptop is bought in the USA, but I reside in Singapore, I am awake at 3am and 4.15am respectively at my current but somehow the support options always never seem to coincite with the USA hours of operations?
Singapore support was unable to help, except with a walkthrough, but issue is still unresolved.
My conclusion is that I will need a Recovery CD sent for HP Pavilion dv2745se, but that's where Singapore doesnt seem to be able to help.
The problem was that I wanted to wipe my laptop clean before giving the laptop to someone else.
I deleted the HP recovery partition not realizing it was a mistake as I thought it would still contain my information.
So i reinstalled the entire OS, and went to the HP support site to install the network driver.
However, it seems that Device Manager was still unable to detect any drivers for Network or Ethernet.
I need that to proceed as without the internet, I cannot authenticate my software, nor install more drivers.
This has taken my way too much time, and too much effort to seek support's help, I will merely be repeating my problem over and over again, so please, do send me the Recovery CD.
It will be nice to send it to my Singapore address, but if HP wants to trouble me further, I can provide a USA address for shipping and have that redelivered?
Either that, does HP have a network driver that actually works?
Please just send me the Recovery CD?
Thank you!

You're very welcome.
Yes, the driver you need is for the Broadcom wireless. I am going to give you a newer one than what is on the support page for your notebook. Hopefully that will work...
This package contains the Broadcom Wireless LAN Drivers that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50744.exe
The driver you need for the Unknown device is this one...
This package contains the driver for the Conexant HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP in the supported notebook models and operating systems. This driver enables dial-up functionality and provides a user interface for modem setup.

Hi:
This is a peer to peer forum. HP maintains no official presence here.
Your notebook is not supported by HP for XP 64 bit.
Can you please confirm what operating system you are running?
It should have come with Vista 32 bit.

Before I wiped the laptop clean, I check the properties, it says 64 bit.
But would it help if I installed everything as 32 bit? Do not really know the difference.
Will it matter if I installed everything as 32 bit instead including the online supported drivers?
OS is windows, the OS product key is under my laptop.
How to reach out to HP? Is there an official channel?
The following contact options are available for your product. Please check back during the hours of operation.
Your product’s warranty expired on January 31, 2009.
What are the operating hours?
It is 455am in my country, and it is still not their operating hours?

Since your notebook is out of warranty, HP will charge you for assistance--more than the notebook is worth.
HP does not sell recovery disks for that model anymore.
As I stated before, your notebook did not come with XP 32 or 64 bit from HP.
It came with Vista.
If you installed windows Vista, then you need this ethernet/chipset driver.
This package provides the driver for the NVIDIA nForce Chipset in the supported notebook models and operating systems. Provides Chipset Driver MCP67M (32-bit and 64-bit combined).
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36607.exe
If you installed windows XP, I will have to find the driver from another place.
For official support, you would have to contact HP in Singapore.

Thanks so much, I will try installing with Vista.
Maybe that was the original and got upgraded.
Is there an official HP place to install the Vista? I will go find the link, unless you have it on hand?
Yes, the notebook is actually for somebody more needy and needs internet.
I am spending way too much time on this!
The link you sent is assuming I installed a Vista OS right?
I should go make a CD for Vista right and then install the driver you just shared?
Singapore cant help me more than I can help myself, think the helpdesk is outsourced to India, or perhaps it is just almost 516am now.
I will try tomorrow to see if what you said work.
Thank you so much, your replies sounds more promising than HP support itself already!

You're very welcome.
You can find the Vista 32 or 64 bit drivers you need for your notebook below.
The ethernet driver gets installed from the Nvidia chipset driver.

Oh wait, turns out I did install Windows Vista 64 bit, and the related drivers from:
Internet does not work, even as i installed the following from 64 bit vista page:
- Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista
- HP Wireless Assistant
- Support Software for HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology (Microsoft Windows Vista)
but none worked before.
Also it seems my device manager doesnt have a driver for a few more devices, not even sure if they are critical or not, but definitely want the network and ethernet driver working.
Other devices that doesnt have the drivers are:
- base system device
- base system device
- base system device
- coprocessor
- ethernet controller
- network controller
- SM Bus controller
- unknown device
- unknown device
After I tried the driver you sent earlier,
now device manager has an additional field that says:
Network adapters
- NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
Other Devices:
- base system device
- base system device
- base system device
- network controller
- unknown device
- unknown device
I know the computer comes with Windows Vista Home Premium SP2.
Before I reformatted the PC, it says 64 bit.
Will all these troubles be gone if I reinstall the whole OS using 32 bit?
No idea about the bits.

Hi:
Vista 64 bit is fine, and these drivers should install the missing devices...
Co processor:
This package provides the driver for the NVIDIA nForce Chipset in the supported notebook models and operating systems. Provides Chipset Driver MCP67M (32-bit and 64-bit combined).
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36607.exe
Base system devices:
This package provides the host controller driver for the Ricoh Media Card Reader in the supported notebook models and operating systems. The driver enables the card reader's read/write function.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37872.exe
For the network controller (wireless), please post the hardware ID for the device, so I can figure out who makes it.
The parts list states it is supposed to be a Broadcom card, but HP could have put a different model wireless card in there.
To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the Network Controller device needing the driver.
Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window.
Now you will see a Property drop down list, and it will be set to Device Description.
Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.
Do the same thing for the Unknown Devices too, so I can figure out what drivers you need for those.

Wow, this is WAY more help than I am expecting. Thank you for taking so much effort and guiding me through this. I am getting more help from you than HP Support ever can help.
I installed what you said, and my device manager is looking better now.
Now, outstanding with just TWO 🙂
Other Devices:
- Network Controller
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_137C103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_137C103C
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&CC_0280
- Unknown device
HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30D6&REV_1000
HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30D6
Network help first please, because that is really the bottleneck to everything!
Again, my grateful thanks!
