Hi @donovan43 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with Microsoft Edge is preventing you from downloading Google Chrome, here are some steps you can try:
Check Edge Settings:
- Open Edge and go to Settings (click the three dots in the top right).
- Navigate to Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll down to the Security section and make sure “Block potentially unwanted apps” is turned off temporarily.
Try a Different Download Link:
- Go directly to the official Google Chrome download page and see if the download starts.
Clear Edge Cache:
- Open Edge, go to Settings, then Privacy, search, and services.
- Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear. Select Cached images and files and click Clear now.
Disable Antivirus/Firewall Temporarily:
- Sometimes, security software can block downloads. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus or firewall and see if that allows the download. Just remember to turn it back on afterward.
Use a Different Browser:
- If Edge still won’t allow the download, consider using a different browser. If another browser is already installed (like Firefox), use it to download Chrome.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
