Hello,
I want to replace my HDD of my HP8560W notebook. I currently have a 500gb drive and want to replace it with a 1TB samsung SSD. However i tried to clone the drive with my Sharkoon Quickport duo, it worked exept for the Recovery Partition. Is there a way to make a exact copy of the original HDD with the recovery partition? Or a workaround?
I also tried to clone with easeus clone and that didn't worked out.
On the forum this link is from 2014.
Is there otherwise a way to make a good restore dvd from the old HDD and use it for the new SSD?
kind Regards,

I have done what you are trying to do -- made an exact clone of my entire HDD -- using a third-party utility known as Macrium Reflect.
What I recommend is the following:
1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR) from here: https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
2) Connect the new drive to the PC using a USB-to-Hard-Drive drive adapter (like the one illustrated below)
3) Follow the instructions in this link: http://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW/Cloning+a+disk
4) Shutdown the PC when done
5) Swap the drives and reboot the PC.
You should boot from the new drive without any problems.
Once you're running using the new Drive, you can then use Disk Management to resize the partitions to fill the larger new drive.
Typical USB-to-Hard-Drive adapter:
Good Luck

Hi, well the cloning worked, the recovery worked. However when I want to create another partition i need to make the disc Dynamic. After that i tried making the recovery partition primary again however then the recovery partition doesnt work anymore. Pergaps because of making the ssd Dynamic to use the partitions.
Any tips for that?
I also tried to recovery first and then add a partition. That worked and the recovery worked however it worked just once. So im cloning the disk again. But it should be possible to add a partition afterwards.

On an MBR-formatted drive, there is a hard limit of 4 upper-level partitions -- and there is no way around that.
You make one Primary partition a Logical one, and you can then create others inside that.
But you can't have more than 4 at the upper-level of partitions.
