I've been trying to get my machine to boot in the Win 10 install with no luck. I installed a new 256GB Samsung PM961 OEM M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Solid State Drive MZ-VLW2560 960 into my HP Omen 15 5010NR laptop, created a Win 10 USB key, was able to boot into the Win 10 USB, the installation recognized my SSD and I was able to successfully complete the Win 10 installation. Upon restarting the PC, the machine never sees the SSD in boot manager and I'm unable to get to Windows.
- BIOS Version F.45 (InsydeH20 Rev. 3.7) latest available from HP for my model
- Laptop Factory OS was 8.1 per BIOS
- Disabled Secure Boot no luck
- Also tried with Legacy Support (CSM) enabled, no luck
If I use the Win 10 key to boot to the repair tools and use command prompt, I can see the partitions created. Tried all kinds of bootrec, bcdedit commands based on Google.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see that HP omen notebook not booting up after installing the windows 10 OS and SSD Is not getting recognized in boot manager.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Have you tried without SSD? If no, please try to remove SDD and try to boot the computer.
Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for the reply. My laptop only has one slot for storage and it's the SSD. I did try removing the SSD and booting up with none connected, then tried reinstalling it with same results. Not showing in boot manager/bios.

No, the computer doesn't boot to Windows desktop.
Startup message was that it could not detect hard drive.
I suspect the BIOS doesn't support the NVMe protocol of the SSD. I am on the latest BIOS from HP, could you confirm NVMe support doest not exist? If so, would it be possible to get an updated BIOS with NVMe support for my model?

Thank you for posting back.
After reading your post, I did go through the Maintenance and Service guide of your product and found that your pc supports 256 GB solid-state drive (SSD), M.2, TLC, SATA.
Also, you can run a quick hard drive test to isolate the issue.
Test the hard drive using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Plug the AC adapter into the computer.
- Press the Power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and start pressing Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- When the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu displays, click Component Tests.
- In the Component Tests menu, click Hard Drive.
- Click Quick Test.
- Click Run once. If the computer has more than one hard drive, click Test All Hard Drives. The Quick Test begins.
- If the computer has more than one hard drive, select the drive you want to test. To test all the hard drives, select Test All Hard Drives.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
