I had to install a new hard drive in this computer but their is no system image available. I do have the HP system recovery disc for this but when it starts the windows install of loading files it keeps getting an error code and it tells me to run chkdsk/f. Is their any solution to this, maybe a problem with the ram or something? I am at my end with this and the new hard drive checks out healthy.

I reinstalled the old hard drive and ran the recovery option through HP got the old hard drive to load windows and I am in the process of making a system image and backing it onto my external hard drive. I am going to reinstall the new hard drive when this finishes and try to do a system recocovery from this. Got my fingers crossed.

Hi mate chkdsk /f means to scan and repair the hard drive but if it does say that do it and see if it doesn't give you thst error. If this helped you i'm sure you can drop a kudos point by showing support. Thanks 🙂

I did a low level format when I received it using a mini xp disc I have. I have run disc diagnostics on this drive and they come back healthy. Any way could it be caused by the ram in this, He just had to replace a stick and I am not sure where he got it.
