Bought this laptop at Best Buy, shortly after buying it I was having issues with Windows running slooooowly and not wanting to update. After a while, it refused to update at all. I decided to just do a system recovery and start fresh. I created a recovery USB as instructed, well, the recovery process did not work and while attempting it the system files on the hard drive were corrupted FUBAR. Now I have a laptop with no OS. I was told at Best Buy (because you best believe I went there) that if I contacted HP I could obtain the necessary recovery media to restore the PC to factory condition and it would be cheaper than buying a retail copy of Windows. How exactly do I go about that? What phone number or site link do I need to contact? The attendant at Best Buy gave me a phone number to call at HP but when I called it, it was just a recorded message telling me to go to the website. Help!! The laptop is a model no. 17-x116dx.

Not sure why you can't see it. If the OS isn't set to Windows 10 use the Change button.
Or-just use this direct link I got from the page:
**Click Accept as Solution on a Reply that solves your issue**
***Click the "YES" button if you think this response was helpful.***

You can order Recovery Media from your Support page. Last item in the list of software/drivers:

Thanks again for the assist, just as a little after-action report, I originally was browsing with Firefox on my Android device, and for some unfathomable reason, on the support page with the downloads list the list didn't show the 'recovery kit', it stops at the previous entry of 'utility-tools'. Using another pc (with firefox) I can see the complete list. I was, however, able to get to it directly on my phone using the link you kindly provided. Weird.
