HP Laptop 15s-dy3000
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, my HP laptop came with pre-installed Windows and Microsoft Office. I reinstalled Windows recently. Windows is activated, but Office is now asking for a product key. I don’t have the original Microsoft account or any Office product key. Please help me restore the original OEM Office license for this laptop

Hi @gangadar_y,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When you reinstall Windows on an HP laptop with a pre-installed Microsoft Office OEM license, it's possible to encounter issues with Office activation. Here's how you can address this:

Check for Microsoft Account Association:

  • If Office was originally activated with your Microsoft account, try logging into Office with that account. Open any Office application (like Word or Excel), select Sign In, and enter your Microsoft account details. This may activate your Office if it was previously linked to your account.

Use Microsoft Office Recovery Software:

  • HP provides support for issues related to pre-installed software. Visit the HP Support Assistant to check for any available tools or assistance that might help in recovering your Office product key.

Microsoft Support:

  • Consider reaching out to Microsoft Support. Provide them with the details of your device, and that it came with pre-installed Office. They might be able to help retrieve your license if they have it on record.

Recovery Media:

  • If you have recovery media or a recovery partition provided by HP, you can attempt to restore your laptop to its factory state. Be aware that this will erase all current data, so ensure you back everything up.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
