OMEN Laptop - 15-en0005nl

There was a recent 2023 BIOS update on the Hp website (F.19 rev A) via Windows Update and now have a laptop which won't boot

I get the 0x0000001 error and can't get around it with any recovery options even when selecting to delete all and install windows from the recovery. Only pressing F10 thne ESC two times is possible to boot, but some feature (suspend, battery management) don't work properly.

I try to download again F19 BIOS to try a reflash but is no longer available (why? someone noticed that it didn't wor)

I try to install F18A but is not possible direct downgrade and the recovery USB don't work.

I contact support and the want € 391 for a problem not caused by me.

HP BIOS releases by Microsoft do not match what is on the HP web site and cause problem

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/Computer-is-freezing-afte1r-Bios-Update/td-p/8...

The above runs 7 pages of complaints and solutions

The post by @Wildsoldier  near the bottom of page 3 shows how to roll f57 back to f55

You should be able to re-install f18 the same way

You can also complain to HP tech support and check your warranty

As you can see, the BIOS problem is not an exceptional case (especially for the F19 version).
On reddit there are several posts related to the problem and all complain about the inability to downgrade the BIOS.

That reference I listed earlier did not work.  I tried all 4 previous bios .exe and was unable to extract the rom bios.

I downloaded the f19 (a copy someone saved) and it had an ssid code for 8786.  Please check your motherboard and look for code 8786 printed on it.  You can complain to tech support that the bios did not work.

You listed en0006 and also en0005 but both system point to the same download files.

It may be possible to recover f18 using the windows plus the "B" key as described here

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_3932413-2337994-16#:~:text=on%20the%20notebook.-,Press%20a....

If  more than one bios is listed then look for the f18 bios

the bios backups are kept on a hidden partition

if you find the f18 (or earlier) backup and it is rejected (no rollback allowed)  then the following will not work either.

If only the f19 bios is listed then try the following:

If you have a disk image backup you may be able to restore the original bios by restoring the disk image

and then doing the windows key plus "B" to get the original bios.

It may be possible get the original release bios by using your product ID to reinstall the original system.

go here and put in your product ID and see if you have a cloud backup

https://d34z73bbtpzgej.cloudfront.net/

You will still have to do the "B" key to get the older bios installed.
