Did you attempt the BIOS recovery using the key combinations?

Thank you for your reply.
Answer to your question: Did you attempt the BIOS recovery using the key combinations? YES
A few more details:
This computer originally came with Windows 8. A few years ago I converted the computer to Windows 7 thanks to the forum directing me to the correct drivers and driver loading sequence and procedures. This forum assistance remains on the forum website. Furthermore, it should be noted that the two 1T disk drives were reformatted to a standard Window 7 FAT32 format wiping out all the HP diagnostics associated with Windows 8 environment and its disk format.
Since the failure, I have replaced the 3 volt 2032 lithium backup battery.
Critical engineering project files remain on this computer and I very much appreciate your assistance in restoring it operation.
Thank You!

Thank you for your reply and the file location of the original BIOS.

Is this BIOS you referenced compatible given the above and UEFI code and variables may not exist?
Thank you !

If you read the additional info file it states Windows 7 or Windows 8:

When following the BIOS installation instruction the following window keeps appearing and disappearing on the HP laptop:
“HP BIOS UPDATE
The System BIOS Recovery Failed.
Unable to open BIOS image file.
Continue Startup
(a countdown number from 15 to 0)”
I let it the above window cycle run for more than 10 time with no change.
It’s as if the BIOS EPROM cannot be accessed.
Any suggestions?

As I said in my previous reply I did try BIOS using recovery keys.
I then down loaded the dv7-7373ca Notebook BIOS from here:
https://support.hp.com/soar-attachment/703/col42426-ob-174055-1-ob-174055-1_sp77453_releasedoc.html
and followed instructions and made from a blank memory stick a copy of the BIOS on another computer. I then followed instructions in the BIOS down load and inserted the memory stick with power off and then turned power on.
The following occurred:
“HP BIOS UPDATE
The System BIOS Recovery Failed.
Unable to open BIOS image file.
Continue Startup
(a countdown number from 15 to 0)”
I let it the above window cycle run for more than 10 time with no change.
It’s as if the BIOS EPROM cannot be accessed or written too.
Any suggestions?

Try the previous BIOS version. Not sure if it will offer to make the flash recovery-that is a new feature HP added and I can't remember what year it started:
If all else fails you may have to remove the hard drive and install it in a USB HDD Enclosure.Plug it into port of a working machine and try to copy important files over to hdd of host machine.

Long story why I just can’t copy files to another computer off the hard drive. It has to do with a locked license for an engineering software that have to be revoke only from this computer.
What I have done is disassembled the computer, located the Bios Chip on the mother board, removed the chip, and ordered another bios chip fully programed by the biosdepot on ebay. I will install the bios chip reassemble the computer and see where I am at that time.
