Clearing a Paper Jam on HP Photosmart 7520

Follow these steps in order:

  1. Turn off and unplug the printer

    • Press the On button to turn it off.
    • Unplug the power cord from the rear of the product.
  2. Check and clear jam from the rear door

    • Press in the tab on the left side of the rear door to release it.
    • Pull the rear door away from the printer.
    • Gently pull any jammed paper out of the rollers.
    • Make sure no torn pieces of paper remain inside.
    • Reinstall the rear door and push it forward until it snaps into place.
  3. Check and clear jam from the front / cartridge area

    • Open the print cartridge door to access the print carriage and front rollers.
    • Gently remove any paper stuck between the rollers.
    • Remove any packing materials or objects blocking the carriage.
    • Close the print cartridge door.
  4. Check that the print carriage moves freely

    • With power still disconnected, gently slide the carriage side to side.
    • Do not force it if it is stuck on something; remove any obstruction.
  5. Reconnect power and test

    • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.
    • Load paper correctly in the input tray (print side down, stack aligned).
    • Try printing again.

If the printer still reports a jam or the carriage is stalled after these steps, clean the paper feed rollers as described, or contact HP support for service.
