Pavilion 15-AY009TX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Pavilion 15-AY009TX(Window 10) . Laptop is about 14 months old. I got the dreaded "plugged in not charging" error. Laptop is running latest version of Windows 10. The battery and ac adaptor drivers are all up to date. I downloaded and ran the HP Support Assistant battery test and it said my battery was OK.When i plug in the charger it charges the battery in some time gap and shows these messages---(1)plugged in not charging   (2)plugged in charging  (3)does not show the chargign icon even when adapter plugged in.I ran my laptop without battery and started  with no problem.

I also test the battery and adapter with using component test on ''hp PC hardware diagnostic window'' and it showed ok message.

How can i fix this problem.

please help.thanks!

Hello @RAHUL55SW

There are a few possible solutions to the "Plugged in, not charging issue."

Firstly, try uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

  1. Search Device Manager
  2. Find and expand Batteries
  3. Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
  4. Select Uninstall
  5. Restart

There may also be issues with the BIOS and chipset drivers.

A power reset to drain all residual power may also help.

    1. Unplug the AC adapter
    2. Remove the battery
    3. Hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds
    4. Reinsert the battery
    5. Plug in the AC adapter

Let me know how it goes.

Kind regards,

Eddy

Hello @KonstantinosMD  & @RAHUL55SW,

Please try testing the battery then:

  1. Repeatedly press Esc upon startup
  2. Select F2 (System Diagnostics)
  3. Select the desired language
  4. Navigate to component tests
  5. Select Battery

Note that the above steps may vary depending on the configuration and some tests may not be available.

Regards,

Eddy
