When I try to start up my laptop I get the HP logo and “Preparing Automatic Repair” and it does nothing. I’ve also tried hints from other posts, doing a system check and restore. Still getting the same thing no matter what I try.

I assume you mean F2 System Diagnostics was done? What results did you get from the tests?

- Turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately start pressing the Esc key. When the startup menu opens tap F11 key. The Choose and optionscreen is displayed.
- On the Choose an Option screen, click Troubleshoot.Figure: Choose an option with Troubleshoot selected
- On the Troubleshoot screen, click Recovery Manager.Figure: Troubleshoot with Recovery Manager selected
- Under Help, click System Recovery.Figure: Help with System Recovery selected
- Select to Backup files or Recovery without. If you choose to backup files you will need an external usb hard drive or large flash drive.
