I had made a post about not being able to reset my PC due to bsod but I managed to reset it to factory settings. When it turns on at the bottom it will say "press ESC for startup menu"... It did that sometimes when I was troubleshooting the bsod. Why is it doing it literally just after I finish the factory settings reset? I have just start to download updates so if it not due to being fully updated..basically I want to know what could cause that and the different ways to fix it so that doesn't show up?

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand you've been getting BSOD errors,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you reinstall the OS using the (OEM) recovery manager or the retail version?

Since you haven't captured the blue screen error, I will need it to ensure i provide the accurate solution:

  • In Windows, search for and open View advanced system settings.

  • In the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.

  • Under System Failure, remove the check mark next to automatically restart, and then click OK.

  • Restart the computer to apply the change.

  • The computer no longer restarts automatically when a blue screen error occurs.

For more details: click here

Please reply back with the error code as the issue is code specific and it would be rather easier to provide an accurate solution using the same.

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Have a great day!
