@oldwine48 (Old wine and old friends are good provisions 😉 )
Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand, you're facing issues upgrading Windows 10
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: https://hp.care/2aSlUnS
(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
What is the current operating system on PC?
Have you tried uninstalling HP Support Assistant and then upgrading to Windows 10?
If not, I suggest you try these steps to uninstall HP Support Assistant:
- Search Windows for Control Panel.
- Click on Programs and Features.
- Right Click on HP Support Assistant and select Uninstall.
- Once you have completely uninstalled the program, try upgrading Windows.
- Then download HP Support Assistant from the link: https://hp.care/2CdGNUc
If the issue persists, please perform Sfc/scannow. System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.
For Windows 10:
- Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).
-
In the Command Prompt type the following command and press Enter:
sfc /scannow
For Windows 7:
-
Click Start
. In the Search box, type Command Prompt.
-
Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
-
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
- In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and then press Enter:
sfc /scannow
Figure: System file checker
Once completed, then try upgrading Windows.
You could also run Windows Update Troubleshooter: Click Here
Keep me posted,
For I shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,
And your device is up and running again,
Have a great day 🙂
Cheers 😉
