I have tried 3 times to install update 1709. After some hours of progress and auto restarts, it reaches a point of 81% complete and goes into a loop. All I can do is power down & up and fortunately it recovers previous windows version. I have no hardware devices attached and the internet connection is not involved during actual instalation, so I assume I have a hardware issue OR I have some soft ware on my system causing this problem. Anybody have advice or ideas?

Dear The Fossette - Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. After running the updater trobleshooter, it found an error which it fixed. Unfotunately it took me a couple of tries to reinstall the update 1709, which I do not totally understand but I think it was a conflict with all my failed attempts. Anyway, I finally installed successfully. Thank you again. Regards Deards

I have a hp envy dv7t-7398a. Have been unable to install 1709 build of windows update after 12hrs of time with Windows tech support. They have determined that the update is not compatible with my laptop after reviewing list of tested laptops on HP's site.
Apparently HP has not developed updated BIOS and or drivers compatible with the new release.
The troubleshooter is unable to start the BITS program (background information transfer system) eventhough the HP trouble shooter indicates it is working fine.
Will HP have the necessary software updates soon to update to this version of Windows?

Sorry Robert, I assume your question is for HP, I'm just a user that had this problem back last year ans as you see, The_Fossette from HP solved it. If nobody responds to you, maybe you should generate your question as a NEW problem rather than a reply to mine. Good luck
