Paul,

I'm just trying another go at this.

All settings in BIOS back to default.

I'm trying to remove the tick from the UEFI Boot Order so that it only boots from Legacy... but it's grey'd out.

I managed this earlier but can't think for the life of me how I done this.... any suggestions?

Thanks

G

Unfortunately, I don't know what you can do about that.

I think the only way you can boot from legacy, is to have legacy mode enabled and secure boot disabled in the BIOS.

Hello

you need to set the BIOS for Windows 7.

see this vido on youtube How to Set BIOS in Legacy mode

then you have to use the HP utility to create a bootabl USB key with Windows 7 AND the 440 G3 drivers:

download this softpaq

HP Cloud Recovery Client

boot for this USB key and install Windows 7 64bit.

then on the same key you have all drivers. Take a look to the content of the USB key

you need a 16GB USB key.

bye

I managed to get it all sorted. Had to put an additional HDD inside the laptop with all drivers, was quite a challenge

That's good news.

I didn't realize there was a place to install a 2nd HDD.

This worked perfectly.  Thanks!

Can it work also on amd processor based laptop.
.

The Microsoft Windows 7 installation media doesn't have the native USB 3.0 drivers.

So you have to add the USB 3.0 drivers into the Windows installation flash drive.

Intel came through on this one. They have a utility that does all the work for you.

Follow the instructions in the Readme link to make a bootable USB flash drive from your windows installation DVD.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility

Run this and point to your Windows USB Installation media, and Windows 7 should install.
