HP Spectre x360 13-ap0005nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys, i'm Paolo and i'm from Italy and i'm sorry my bad english but here's the question.
On march of 2019 i bought a spectre x360 expecially for its battery, the data sheet guaranteed 21,5 hours of video playback. I've to say that all that i do with my pc is using office and adobe's apps. On the first month, the battery, only using word, lasted maximum 8 hours, but i needed it so i couldn't send it to assistance. On September i did it because of the battery and two days ago i took back my pc. Assistance said they changed the battery.  After having installed all the updates and customized the pc, this morning i was ending some customizations on the windows calendar and JUST TO DO THIS the battery went from 100% to 60% in just 2 hours. I must specify that the battery was on energy saving mode, is ALWAYS on saving mode. Only the brightness was set at its maximum.
How is that possible? What should i do? Could the problem be liked to this HP model?
Please help me. This pc was an excessive expense but i needed it for the touch.

Thanks again and i'm sorry if i missed the subject and for my bad english. Hope you'll understand everything.
Paolo.

@Paolo1712,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the battery backup time.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Your notebook configuration and power settings can impact your battery performance. This includes settings such as:

  • Display brightness
  • Backlit keyboard
  • Display resolution
  • Windows Power Plan
  • Processor speed
  • Type of storage, such as a peripheral storage

Many factors can contribute to battery performance:

  • Battery cells suffer gradual, irreversible capacity loss with each discharge-charge cycle.
  • Temperature and discharge loads can impact battery performance and capacity.
  • Battery capacity can decrease even when the computer is unplugged from a power source and not in use.
  • During prolonged storage or non-use, the battery charge can decrease below its recommended low-voltage level. Discharging the battery below its recommended low-voltage level may physically damage the battery and result in the battery becoming unusable.

NOTE: If the battery does not recover after charging for 30 - 60 minutes, the battery has most likely sustained physical damage and must be replaced.

  • Leaving the battery at a high level of charge in a high-temperature environment for extended periods can accelerate the loss of performance and capacity.
  • The computer generates excess heat during high workload or if it is not properly ventilated. This temporarily impairs the battery charge and discharge rate. The battery function returns to normal when it cools to an acceptable operating temperature.
  • To help maintain battery capacity, HP batteries are designed to discharge a small amount once fully charged. This is normal for most notebook batteries. The battery will begin to recharge once the charge has dropped below 95%.
  • Using software for graphics processing or high-definition video accelerates the loss of performance and capacity. For example, playing 3D games decreases capacity faster than using word processing applications.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Cheers!

Hi

let me tell you something my friend, I bought same HP spectre 13-ap0xxx 3 months ago, it only works 5 to 6 hours on normal browsing and reported the problem to HP and after wasting  2 months they told me the 21 hours or the 12 hours is only for advertising issues, this is not real, they service center told me the best your can get is 5 to 6 hours, they claim that it can achieve 12 hours only if you switch on the computer and don't work on it, who the hell would buy and expensive computer and wont work on it, as you can see this model is an absolute disaster and HP just hiding this info from the customers,
