Using Windows 11 on Arm with Snapdragon X Elite.
I had audio stuttering issues on my PC, so I uninstalled the audio device with hopes of reinstalling it alongside drivers.
I downloaded the entire package from HPs website (7700.1 Rev.E version, June 25 2025). Upon running the downloaded file (both as administrator and not) the setup wizard extracts the contents to a folder called C:\SWSetup\sp160229 and then does nothing. The wizard closes and for 2 seconds a spinning cursor is visible, which then changes back to the standard cursor. Would be good to mention that my speakers are currently not working at all, as Win Updater thinks the correct drivers are installed, while it cant even play the test tone.
Upon opening the folder, this is visible:
None of the executable files do anything. The CMD install file can be ran as administrator and outputs:

Why in the hells did you publish a driver update that cant be installed, no matter how many tricks I try?
Running any of the files in compatibility mode and in safe emulation mode did nothing.

Hi @efwef21,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the detailed breakdown and the image, which helps clarify the situation. You're right to be frustrated: the HP audio driver package (sp160229) for your HP OmniBook X Laptop 14-fe0845no running Windows 11 on ARM (Snapdragon X Elite) appears to extract successfully but fails to install or launch any functional setup.
Likely Causes
- Driver Package Not ARM-Compatible
Even though the package is labelled for your system, it may contain x64 binaries or missing ARM64 INF files, which silently fail on Windows 11 ARM. - Silent Install Script Is Incomplete or Broken
The install.cmd and installdrv.cmd scripts may be placeholders or misconfigured for ARM systems. - Missing INF or Setup Executables
The actual driver files (e.g., .inf, .sys, .cat) may be missing or not referenced correctly in the script.
What You Can Try
1. Manually Install from Device Manager
If any INF files are present in the src, try this:
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click your audio device (or unknown device) > Update driver.
- Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
- Point to C:\SWSetup\sp160229\src and check Include subfolders.
If no INF files are found, this method won’t work, but it’s worth checking.
2. Check for ARM-Specific Driver via Windows Update Catalog
Sometimes, HP drivers for ARM are published via Windows Update only.
👉 Microsoft Update Catalog
Search for: HP OmniBook X Snapdragon Audio ARM64
3. Use HP Support Assistant or HP Image Assistant (ARM-Compatible)
Try HP’s diagnostic tools to auto-detect missing drivers:
- HP Support Assistant | HP® Support.
- HP Image Assistant (HPIA) check if the ARM version is available.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Its me posting from a different acc, forgot password lol.
How can the driver package not be ARM Compatible? It is the only driver chipset available from Qualcomm, and Qualcomm only makes Snapdragon ARM devices! They cant publish drivers incompatible with their own processors.
The file from them CONTAINS .inf files. Installing them does nothing. Installing them in Safe Mode enabled gives ¨installation succesful¨. I can manually choose the folder, but either it says that the best driver is already installed or a list of added drivers appears, with information that they were installed on 0 devices.
The microsoft update catalogue does have these drivers, but again, trying to install returns that the best drivers are already installed.
I noticed one weird things, that the driver ¨audioendpoint.inf¨ is visible in the Device Manager. However, clicking install leads to its installation, but then it acts as if it is not installed. I can install it again and again and nothing happens.
I seem to have all the right drivers in Sound, Video and Game controllers section, but not one of them can be installed. They are the same driver that Sound settings shows as the current one (2024-11-6, 1.0.4166.1200).
If it is diagnostically helpful, connecting BT headphones allows for sound. But speakers are completely dead.
At this point, I even ran a complete Windows hard reset. Did not work.
I am sure this is not a hardware issue because the speakers were working totally fine before.
Some useful pics:
I am desperate at this point.

I think my post disappeared or something.
To answer your message:
I ran a Windows hard reset. This did nothing.
The drivers cannot be installed in the Device Manager. For some, popup ¨couldnt be installed because there are already better ones¨ is there, for some clicking install simply does nothing. Installation popup appears, and then the same driver can be installed again and again. Curiously, they are all visible in the Device manager, but it seems like they are not installed. Sound settings shows them as the current drivers for my speakers.
The driver package contains the correct .INF files. Trying to install them manually gives popup that they were installed on 0 devices. Removing each driver manually and restarting or adding them again does nothing. They can only be installed booting from Safe Mode, but then thats pretty useless since I cant even see my speaker device in safe mode.
HP Support app is useless.
