Hello,
I am sorry, that I cannot help you there, but I am facing exactly the same issue on my pavillion power 15. The process is stuck in a complete (to default settings) recovery loop. With no way out for now.
In the logs it says something about " the process will cause CTO panic, because the image might not be normal now."
Looking forward for any suggestions asap 🙂

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, other than the cloud recovery tool which didn't work for you, there are no other options to get a recovery image.
But you can make a system image using this free disk imaging software, save the image to a portable hard drive.
https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree?x-ca=blog
The software will have you create a bootable rescue DVD or USB flash drive that you boot from to access the system image.
I have used it several times and it worked great.
You can make a new system image anytime you want (such as after adding new programs, or updating W10 to a newer version).

Hi:
What is the full model number or product number of your PC, and what operating system are you running on it?
Use this guide to find the model number\product number of your notebook...

You're very welcome.
Your notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery client tool.
The only suggestion I can offer, would to see if making a bootable recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery client utility works for you.
You will need to have access to another working Windows PC to do this.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

If that fails to work, you can clean install W10 by making a bootable W10 USB installation flash drive using the media creation tool at the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Hi,
I finally managed to have access to a second PC.
Since the HP recovery tool did not work for me in the first place and is kind of the cause for me getting stuck in this "recovery loop" I would prefer to clean install Win 10 then.
I mean there should not be any drawbacks to a clean install. Or are there? I can get any needed drivers manually later on anyways.
I let you know how it works. Thanks so far!

Anytime.
There shouldn't be any drawbacks to a clean install, unless you absolutely have to have the bundled software that HP included in the system image.
You can also use the HP support assistant software to help you install the drivers you need once you get connected to the internet.
You can download it from the link below, orange button on the top right side of the page.
https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html
I would set it to download, but not automatically install the drivers.
I would not trust that software to automatically download and install a BIOS update.

Alright, thank your very much for further suggestions and links. The clean install worked well.
New partitioning aso, everything is working as intended so far.
Is it possible, to get some sort of recovery Image via the HP support assistant to avoid, that this recovery loop happens to me again? Since I read, that the implemented W10 backup functio is not that well either.
Thanks!
