I am facing the same problem - first wi-fi went off and could not be swithced on.  If it came up, then connectionwas limited - no internet access.  Network diagnoostics caused laptop to hang while checking adapter. Now I suspect fan has failed. Is fan responsible for wifi problems?

Thank you for the suggestions. The problem was dust causing fan to stop working and as you suggested, probably need to update BIOS etc. After it was cleaned and updated, it is working fine.

Incidentally, there was no problem with boot-up. But maybe due to overheating, it used to hang. If I didn't force shutdown, it then used to show the reported error message.

I am reporting this for the benefit of any other users who may face similar problems.
