Product: Pavilion 2000-2a28DX
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My laptop will not boot anymore and the recovery and repair options do not work. I want to try to re-install windows 7 from a thumb drive. Where is the correct download link for the OS for my thumbdrive?

 

I went to Microsoft.com and found one but it said they receommend getting it from the computer's manufacturer for windows 7 machines due to differences from the standard OS download.

Hi, @shannonann 

 

The HP cloud recovery tool will not work on any PC made before 2016, including yours.

 

You will have to order recovery media from this non-HP vendor since HP no longer sells it.

I cannot find any place where you can safely download W7 Home Premium for free.

 

There used to be, but that site has been shut down.
