Hi @Azlan77,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the "Recovery Attempt Failed" error during recovery on your HP Pavilion 14-dv1006tx laptop can occur due to several reasons, such as corrupted recovery media, firmware issues, or hardware problems. Here's a structured approach to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Please try the following Troubleshoots steps.
1. Turn off the Unit.
2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
3. Remove any discs from the disc drive.
4. Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
5. Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
6. Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
7. Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.
Step 2
Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit
Step3
The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit
Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.
After the above troubleshooting steps if the unit turns on

- If using a USB recovery drive, ensure it was created correctly and is free from corruption.
- If you downloaded the recovery image, confirm that the file is complete and not corrupted.
Create Fresh Recovery Media:
- Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool to create a new recovery USB drive. This tool is specifically designed for HP devices.
- Download the tool from the HP support site here Link Media Creation Tool
2. Perform a Hard Reset
Before retrying the recovery process:
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Disconnect the power adapter, external devices, and remove the battery (if removable).
- Hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the power adapter and attempt recovery again.
3. Adjust BIOS Settings
Some BIOS settings may interfere with the recovery process:
Reset BIOS to Default:
- Enter BIOS (press Esc or F10 during startup).
- Select Load Setup Defaults, save, and exit.
Disable Secure Boot:

- Ensure Legacy Boot is enabled, if supported. (Note: Many newer HP laptops do not support Legacy Boot.)

You can refer to the below link for the steps on how to run the Recovery on the computer: link
Recommended Precautions for Running a System Recovery:
• Back up your data (All files in the system will be erased during the system recovery)
• Only have your power cord, keyboard, mouse, and monitor (in case of desktop) and only power cord (in case of notebooks) attached during the system recovery. (If other devices (printers, cameras, Ethernet cable for internet connection, audio speakers’ cable, and dual display setup) are connected during the system recovery, the system recovery process may stop and fail)
• The link will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to perform a system recovery on an HP PC.
