Pavilion X2 Detachable
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

While updating Windows I had a blue Recovery screen appear on restart.

I tried doing an F11 System recovery but that didn't work.

I then made a USB recovery drive using another computer. I tested it and it worked on that computer but would not load on the Pavilion.

I went into BIOS and changed the Boot options order to 1) USB Diskette... 2) USB CD/DVD... 3)OS Boot Manager

I also disabled Secure Boot

That didn't work, I still have blue recovery screen. I tried with and without the power cable also.

I've tried F9 Boot Device Options but there is no option to boot from USB, only from OS boot manager... and from EFI file

I tried system diagnostics, component tests, USB Port and it passed.

Please advise

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Forums.

I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion X2 Detachable series laptop and the Windows update failed. Since then the recovery partition is not working. You carted a USB recovery media on another computer and that too does not work on this laptop.

The reason the USB recovery media is not working on your Pavilion X2 Detachable laptop is because the recovery media work only on the computer on which it was created.

Each Windows operating system has a unique coding which is locked to the computer it is originally installed on. Therefore, you will need the original recovery media for the HP Pavilion X2 Detachable laptop. You may contact our HP phone support team to obtain the recovery media for your Pavilion X2 Detachable laptop. The phone support team can be reached via this link: https://hp.care/2uJxnug

Hope this answers your questions. Feel free to keep me posted for any further assistance.

Good luck! 🙂
