HP Pavilion x2 - 10-N113DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Our HP Pavilion x2 boots off of USB recovery media and the Recovery Manager shows the error "0XFFEE18". When you click the okay button for the error, it restarts and goes back to the same error again.

Hi NetFu,

Did you recently make any hardware changes to your computer? Did you send in your computer for repair?

Awaiting your response,

No hardware changes were made.  We ran hardware tests on memory and storage, but all tests passed.

Hi NetFu,

Unfortunately, I can't really make any further suggestions or proposed solutions. I'm reading on different forums that this can apparently be because of a change of hardware, however, an HP Expert's advice would really help in this situation.

Hopefully you can find a solution,

kem579

Yeah, we read some articles like that, but this is a detachable tablet PC, so the chance of actual hardware changes is about nil.  There's really nothing in the hardware that can be changed.

This tablet was originally not powering on, but we solved that problem by opening it according to HP instructions to disconnect and reconnect the battery.  We did not change the battery, simply disconnected it and reconnected it.

I would say we should try to open it again to disconnect the battery and see if we still get the same boot error, but can anyone in HP explain exactly what that error code means?

It's really not helpful as-is, but if we could get some more details on what it means, that might give us a clue.
