Hello - My hard drive crashed and I've installed a new one. What are the steps necessary to reinstall Windows? My Pavilion 15 was purchased with Windows 8 but I upgraded prior to the HD crashing. Will the key still be in the BIOS? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi:
You can reinstall W10 by using the media creation tool at the link below.
You will need another Windows PC to create the installation media.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can create a USB installation flash drive. You will need an 8 GB flash drive for this.
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation, check the 'Skip' box, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
You should be able to boot from the W10 installation flash drive by turning on the PC, tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen.
You should get a menu of options. Select the F9 boot options menu, select the USB flash drive from the list and press the Enter key.
Then the PC should boot from the W10 installation flash drive.
You can watch this video for more info.
You should not need to change any BIOS settings (changing the boot order).
Just follow my instructions above to boot from the flash drive.
