HP Notebook - 15-bn070wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

While logging into work today my laptop went all black and said running disk scan. Then about 5 min later it said Repairing disk errors. This may take over an hour to complete. I have done trouble shooting from trying to factory reset laptop to power off and on and F11 menu. I've tried to uninstall software and updates and it says it is unable to uninstall. I ran a fast check and it came up HDD, when I looked it up it said hard drive may be failing or bad. I can't buy a new computer right now and working from home and no computer means no paycheck. Please help me figure this out. My warranty is out and I am in desperate need of some technical wizardry. Thank you.

Hi:

Your only option would be to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

After you replace the drive, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool on another PC running W7 64 bit or newer to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.
