Microsoft Windows 11

Hi

Since upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on a new HP Laptop I have had an issue where the system randomly freezes and then continues as nothing has happened. I have checked the Event Viewer and the following error was found - " Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued. "

So far, I have :

- reset Windows 11 by re-installing everything from scratch

- adjusted the power saving settings

- updated all the drivers

- checked hardware and software via HP Fixes & Diagnostics Support Assistant

I am just wondering if it is a Windows 11 bug or something else as everything else seems to be working correctly.

Many thanks.

Depending on your disk, you might need a firmware update of your SSD.

And in BIOS you selected just AHCI ?

HP Recommended

As far as I am aware, the firmware of the SSD is up to date, and the BIOS has AHCI selected as default.

Just try this:

Go to device manager and disable "write caching"

Reboot and watch the behavior. If it doesn't help enable it again.

I tried the method and monitored it. There were about six incidents of - " Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued. " and one of them where the Laptop froze.

It seems very random when it happens.

Do you use a PCIe NVMe drive or a M.2 Sata (AHCI) drive

HP Recommended

I believe it to be a PCIe NVMe drive. The SSD brand is Samsung.

You believe ...

And I believe that you know how to check this in the device manager 😄
