Tried to do a system restore using my Recovery D drive. After it went through everything I got an error starting

The restoration did not complete.
Please select one of the following buttons:
I clicked on the buttons but just restarted laptop but same message came back. I tried other options but same result. How do I fix my D drive to finish restore. I was just restoring my daughter laptop to get ready for school.

Hi @Berto0351
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Restoring your HP Envy laptop using the Recovery D drive can occasionally lead to errors such as the "Restoration Incomplete" message.
Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:
Check Recovery Drive Space: Ensure that there is sufficient space available on the Recovery D drive. Sometimes, if the drive is too full, it might cause errors in the restoration process.
Run Diagnostics: Use the built-in HP diagnostics tool to check if there are any issues with the hard drive that may be affecting the restoration. You can access this tool by restarting the laptop and pressing the F2 key repeatedly until the HP Hardware Diagnostics screen appears.
Use HP Recovery Manager:
- Restart your laptop and press F11 repeatedly until the HP Recovery Manager screen appears.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to attempt a system recovery. This tool is specifically designed to handle recovery and restoration processes.
Verify Recovery Media: If you have recovery discs or USB drives, ensure they are not damaged or corrupted. You might consider creating a new set of recovery media using another HP device if available.
Try Safe Mode: Boot the laptop in Safe Mode by restarting and pressing F8 as it starts up. From Safe Mode, try initiating the system restoration again.
Additional Considerations
- If all else fails and you have important data to protect, consider backing it up using an external drive before attempting further restoration processes.
- Ensure that there are no peripheral devices connected that might be interfering with the restoration process.

Thank you for your guidance. I tried all you mentioned. And it did not work. I still get to the page of Restoration Incomplete. I do have a question. I’m giving up. I purchased a windows 10 pro download that I’m going to put on my usb drive and just res store it. I had nothing important. When I go to change boot drives, it does not mention boot from usb drive like it did in previous bios how do I boot from usb?

I’m sorry to hear the restoration didn’t complete successfully—that can definitely be frustrating.
To boot from your USB drive on your HP Envy laptop, here’s a step-by-step guide:
How to Boot from USB on HP Envy Laptop
Insert the USB drive with your Windows 10 Pro installation media.
Power off the laptop completely.
Access the Boot Menu:
Turn on the laptop and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly (about once per second) until the Startup Menu appears.
From the Startup Menu, press F9 to open the Boot Device Options.
In the Boot Device Options, you should see a list of bootable devices including your USB drive.
Use the arrow keys to select the USB drive.
Press Enter to boot from the USB.
If USB Drive Does Not Appear
Check BIOS Settings:
Press Esc at startup, then press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
Navigate to the System Configuration or Boot Options tab.
Look for options related to Secure Boot and Legacy Support.
Disable Secure Boot and enable Legacy Support (if available).
Save changes and exit BIOS.
After this, try the F9 boot menu again to see if the USB device appears.
If you need detailed instructions or further assistance during the process, just let me know—I’m here to help you get this done smoothly.
